Save The Date: Free Range Farm Tour & Dinner
Saturday, March 10th
HUB Bay Area is teaming up with San Francisco based social enterprise Watku to offer monthly HUB Escapes. This new program is designed to facilitate more meaningful member networking, while also giving members an opportunity to break the routine and reengage with inspiration. Each exclusive local experience focus on healthy, active, sustainable living. Take one day each month to interact and connect on deeper levels with your fellow members, and enjoy the best aspects of our surrounding communities! These “escapes” are perfect for members looking to connect with other members, people new to the city and interested in the local experience, a team venture looking to get away and bond, etc…
Free Range Farm Tour and Dinner: See what a true sustainable, free range animal farm looks and operates like. It’s an amazing experience to witness healthy animals in their natural habitats, lounging under trees, foraging in the woods, sprawled in the sun, and generally living like an animal should. This experience offers members the opportunity to tour the farm and participate in actual farm duties – from feeding and milking the animals, to herding them in and out of shelters. It also includes dinner on the farm made from products taken directly from the farm – fresh veggies, delicious stews, savory wine, and much more. Experiencing the inner workings of this local supply chain will encourage you to source your food locally, and maybe even convince you to join one of the Bay Area’s amazing CSA programs!
“Hub Escapes” to come:
Olive Farm Tour, Tasting & Luncheon
Saturday, April 14th
The olive is among the oldest known cultivated fruits in the world, so why wouldn’t you want to experience all it has to offer? For this experience we take members out into the fields, show you the inner workings of the local olive processing system, and delight your tastes with samples of the many types and flavors grown right here in CA. Our farm partner helps you channel your inner Mediterranean while teaching you all there is to know about this incredibly healthy, antioxidant rich lipid. This experience reminds us we should take an empty jug out to our local farmers to fill up on olive oil instead of buying no-name bottles sourced overseas.
SF Bay Sailing Jaunt & Sausalito Lunch
Saturday, May 12th
Head out onto SF Bay for 2 hours of cruising on a 50′ sailing yacht. Based on weather and group preference, our experienced captains will select a route that takes members out to the Golden Gate bridge and beyond, into the bay towards Alcatraz and Angel Island, or over to Richardson Bay in Sausalito. This picturesque seagoing tour includes basic sailing instruction, education on nautical terms, knot tying, and much more. Experiencing first-hand the power of wind energy reminds us of the incredible renewable resources our environment provides naturally.
Tomales Bay Kayaking & Oyster BBQ
Saturday, June 9th
This experience gets members into boats and out on the water, exploring the mudflats and beaches of Tomales Bay. Our boating experts and trained naturalists provide tours, paddling instruction, and education about surrounding habitats and ecosystems. Once you’ve had your fill of fun on the water, everyone will meet back on shore for a good ole’ fashion ocean-side clam bake. Two hours on the water with fresh ocean air in your lungs will remind you of the incredible wildlife living in and supported by our local shorelines. It’s not only a great workout, but being up close and personal with these aquatic ecosystems makes a strong case for why we should care about maintaining them. And enjoying the sustainably harvested crustacean bounty is not a bad way to cap off the day!
